Ang Sang Wahe Guru
Mantra To Guide The Psyche
Translation
Ang is ‘a part’. Sang is ‘in every,’ or ‘with every’. Wahe is ‘the indescribable living ecstasy of Infinite Being’. Guru is ‘the knowledge that transforms your mind, emotion, and essence.’
Meaning
The whole phrase means, “The Infinite Being, God, is with me, and vibrates in every molecule and cell of my being.” This mantra expresses a universal truth, guiding the psyche toward harmony through its repetition. It reconnects every fragmented part of the self—mind, body, and spirit—synchronizing the finite sense of identity with the Infinite Oneness. This act of reunion is the essence of healing, restoring balance and inner peace even amidst life’s pressures and uncertainties. It brings a deep calm that flows from the touch of the divine within.
What It Does
Chanting Ang Sang Wahe Guru gently realigns the psyche, mending the separations that arise from stress, fear, or disconnection. It steadies the mind, opens the spirit, and anchors you in the universal flow, offering strength and clarity no matter the challenge. This practice, shared by Siri Singh Sahib, Yogi Bhajan, serves as a healing balm, dissolving phobias and doubts that distance us from our inner resources and the greater whole.
Meditation/Practice
Sit comfortably with your spine straight, hands resting on your knees, palms open. Close your eyes and focus at the center of your brow. Chant “Ang Sang Wahe Guru” at a steady pace, enunciating each sound with precision. Let the vibration ripple through your being for 11 minutes, reuniting every part of you with the Infinite. If chanting isn’t an option, play the audio and listen deeply, breathing slowly as you feel the mantra’s energy restore your center and expand your awareness.
