EARTH’S ROOT

A VISION, TURNED MISSION

From a young age, Shanti Krishna felt a calling to teach children, a vision that has blossomed into a mission. As a dedicated Kundalini yoga practitioner and meditator, certified through the RA MA Institute and Y.O.G.A. for Youth, she discovered a life purpose: to share transformative wisdom with young learners, empowering them to navigate life with love, grace, confidence, determination, empathy, and compassion while uncovering their unique purpose.

Through the practices of Kundalini yoga and meditation, Shanti creates a joyful, engaging environment, weaving storytelling, children’s mantra music, singing, and dancing into her classes. Thoughtful activities spark appreciation for the Earth’s diversity, the beauty of nature and animals, the wonders of the stars and universe, and themes of community, leadership, self-reflection, and storytelling. Inspired by the children’s innate curiosity, she encourages exploration through gardening and creative projects, fostering their unique gifts and passions to share with the world. Drawing on over two decades of method acting and voiceover experience since 2008, Shanti also teaches children the art of voiceover, guiding them to discover their authentic sound as a powerful way to explore and express emotions, building confidence and emotional awareness through the craft of voice.

THE TEACHER

SHANTI KRISHNA

Shanti Krishna is a mother, actor & voice artist, turned devoted Yogini. She was called to Kundalini in 2021 and completed her certification to teach through the RA MA Institute in Los Angeles, CA.

She is impassioned to empower others to master their mind, body & soul through yogic practice, meditation & self-reflection, so that they may more gracefully and lovingly walk through this ever-evolving world, uncover their destined path, and be of service to others; to help elevate the earth to it’s highest vibration.

She is inspired by youth & works with those most at-risk and in need of enlightened support & love, to help bring them to their brightest self, through her organization Earth’s Root. She has received specialized training to teach Kundalini yoga to at-risk youth, through Y.O.G.A. for Youth, an organization out of Los Angeles, and aims to bring the powerful practice of yoga and meditation to underserved kids in the Minneapolis community.

She finds delight in helping other creative artists, and individuals of all trades, embody their authentic self, unlock creative flow, and flourish within unique expression and mastery of their path of truth and divine destiny.

LUCY LANEY ELEMENTARY

Published 1/11/21: Last November I had the pleasure of teaching 1st-3rd graders at Lucy Laney Elementary. It was such a beautiful experience, and I learned so much from them. I look forward to getting back into Lucy Laney soon to continue sharing yogic and meditative teachings with the students. I would also love to create a program that would allow me to give the teachers tools to incorporate yoga & meditation into their classrooms.

Lucy Laney was the feature of a documentary made in 2019 called, Love them First: Lessons from Lucy Laney, which began when a local Minneapolis reporter met Lucy Laney principal, Mauri Melander Friestleben, while she was giving an impassioned speech to the North Minneapolis community after several deadly shootings near the school. PERSPECTIVES, INC.

Published 2/22/22: So very excited to be continuing my journey working with kids at my next stop, Perspectives, Inc! I will be teaching a group of Kindergarten through 5th graders, guiding them through Kundalini yoga & meditation. I’m looking forward to starting them off with Shanti The Yogi: Mountain Adventure," by Snatam Kaur, a beautiful story that brings children through the practice of yoga and meditation through story-telling and visualization.

Founded in 1976, Perspectives, Inc. is an award-winning human service agency that addresses community's core issues around homelessness; racial disparity, poverty, trauma, mental and chemical health issues, and nutrition.

The founders and leadership recognize the unique and essential relationship between a mother and child, as well as the societal consequences when disrupted. Therefore, the rebuilding and strengthening of the mother and child relationship became the cornerstone of our programs.
